Aerievale is a log cabin/lodge/condos for sale near Lake City, CO, it is a one of a kind building and location. It is remote, but accessible from the county maintained road fronting the site. Yet the back property line abuts federal land, starting with BLM which blends into the Uncompahgre National Forest, which in turn encompasses the Uncompahgre Wilderness. Thus you can walk out the back door directly into the wilds of the northern San Juan Mountains. Two mountain streams are close by, Henson Creek and North Henson Creek which are tributaries of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. Two lakes are an easy drive, Lake San Cristobal, south of Lake City and Blue Mesa Reservoir west of Gunnison.
Winter here is possibly the very best time. When the snow builds up to several feet, and the last hunting season is over, road maintenance stops and we come in by snow mobile, skis or snow shoes. Things become very quiet. But you can tour around the area on fresh powder enjoying the silence and solitude, or crank up the snow machines and roar around. Either way you won't be bothering anyone nor be bothered.

The building is a special design utilizing a south facing two story glass sunroom to provide heat during the day with the hot air circulating over the house via an envelope roof and north wall, heating large rock bins in the basement before recycling back through the sunroom to pick up more heat. At night the warmed rock keeps the house in a comfortable range and any additional warmth needed is provided by the two wood furnaces which heat air that is circulated through the house via thermostatically controlled fans.

A 190 foot deep well drilled into rock provides water. A large plastic septic tank and large leach field provide wastewater treatment and disposal.

Electricity is provided via Solar panels, with battery storage, converted to standard 120/240 volt ac current. A 7.5KW dual fuel, propane fired generator provides back up. The water heater, refrigerator, stove/oven and clothes dryer are also propane fired. A 1,000 gallon buried propane tank stores the fuel. We have enjoyed the house and hope someone else can as well.
